Picture Post – August 20, 2012

Here’s a few recent photos I’ve taken:

These guys were at the edge of the lake a few days ago but not for the same reason.  The ibises were resting up and preening after digging for bugs in my back lawn with their long beaks, coincidentally aerating the lawn.  The snowy white egret, however, had another motive.  There are several large batches of baby ducklings making their rounds in the neighborhood.  When the egret sees a family swimming on the lake it takes off and hovers in the area until the ducklings come on shore, then swoops down and picks off a little one for lunch.

I had lunch with friends at the restaurant on the right last week – very very expensive!.  The restaurant is on the Intracoastal Waterway in Ft. Lauderdale.

Drawbridge open.

I didn’t see the para-sailor when I took this photo.  The beach is not far behind the trees on the other side of the Intracoastal.

Goldfish Pond

Looking South from my back yard.  Not a recent photo – but one I played with recently in Photoshop.
