I spent four days over the Easter Holiday visiting relatives vacationing near Orlando. It is especially nice to spend time with family. Living alone, even in Paradise, gets lonely.
But spending four days around rambunctious two and six year old boys, however adorable, does get somewhat stressful.
The drive home on US Route 27 was very boring, especially in the final part through the sugar cane fields south of Lake Okeechobee. This stretch of road is one of the most dangerous in Florida. In addition to the boredom of mile after mile of nothing to look at, the road is unlit and mainly used by large trucks frequently entering and leaving the highway.
It reminds me – a friend once described to me a remote place as “It’s not the end of the World, but you can see it from there!”
The sugar cane in the my video below was mainly new growth – almost a year from harvest – when it will be ten or more feet high.
